Mysore airport awaits Centre's nod

Mysore: The workable Mysore airport may not be available for commercial flights this Dasara season too. The facility that was readied during the 2009 edition of the festivities is awaiting the Centre's nod.
The state government on Monday agreed to slash sales tax for the aviation turbine fuel ( ATF) among other things as sought by the private operators to start the operations. "We have communicated that 4% exemption will be given to the operators. But the Centre has to give technical clearances," said Karnataka tourism and infrastructure development minister G Janardhana Reddy said.
According to him, the CM discussed with MP Vijay Mallya following which Kingfisher applied to the DGCA for clearance and informed the Airports Authority of India. The CM has discussed the issue with Air India CMD Arvind Jadhav, who has promised to start operations from Mysore. But the bottleneck is the go-ahead by the Centre, he explained.
