Navi Mumbai airport: map to be sent to expert panel

The Maharashtra government would submit a map of the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) around the controversial Navi Mumbai airport site to the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) on Friday. The map has been prepared by Anna University's cell dealing in coastal regulation mapping, T.C. Benjamin, Principal Secretary, Urban Development department, told journalists on Thursday.
An earlier map submitted to EAC, which was prepared in 1996, was on a scale of 1:25000. The revised map is on a scale of 1:4000 and has airport facilities superimposed on it as per the Committee's requirement, Mr. Benjamin said. “The Government of India wanted a map on the scale of 1:4000. The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) has approved [the new map]. We will submit it to them tomorrow [Friday].” .
