Religare Voyages to start air carrier in 6 months: COO

New Delhi: Air charter firm Religare Voyages Ltd, founded by billionaire brothers Malvinder Singh and Shivinder Singh, expects to launch its regional airline business in the next six months, a top official said on Tuesday.
Religare Voyages will start operations with two 17-seater aircraft, but the company is in talks to buy more aircraft with capacity of less than 50 seats, Sandeep Bhatt, chief operating officer, said.
Bhatt said the airline will operate only in Tier II and Tier III cities, but refused to provide details about the region. The region could be anywhere in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh or even Agartala and the North East, Bhatt said.
Religare owner Singh brothers, who have a combined fortune estimated at $3 billion by Forbes magazine, also control financial services conglomerate Religare Enterprises Ltd and Fortis Healthcare.
