Seamless travel likely for Kingfisher, BA fliers

Mumbai: Kingfisher Airways may sign a code-share agreement with British Airways on Saturday facilitating seamless travel to passengers who can also enjoy benefits while travelling on each other’s networks. The facility, known as code-share agreement in aviation parlance, will be available from mid-September for which the bookings will open on September 7, said persons familiar with the matter.
British Airways CEO Willie Walsh is likely to be in Mumbai on Saturday to make the announcement, said the persons who did not wish to be named. Spokespersons of both companies declined comment. The proposed code-share agreement between a domestic and a foreign company will be the first in Indian aviation industry.
Under the agreement, British Airways’ customers can fly seamlessly in seven sectors in India — Hyderabad, Goa, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi — through the Kingfisher network. While, Kingfisher customers can fly to Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Glasgow and Manchester through British Airways.
