Chennai: The Air Passengers Association of India (APAI) and the Consumers Association of India organised a seminar on rights and responsibilities of airline passengers on Saturday. Retired IAS officer and first director general of civil aviation M R Sivaraman stressed the need for local authorities of airport to take up the issue of safety at various levels instead of waiting for decisions from the top.
Capt Ranganathan, aviation expert, said that there were many incidents of passenger safety endangered by pilots, flying crew and airport officials alike. ATC expert V Krishnan stressed the need for giving the ATC an independent entity status.
Ajay Mehra from Airbus, Aditya Ghosh of Indigo Airlines, and APAI chief Sudhakar Reddy also addressed the seminar.
