AI CMD to meet DGCA over Arora’s appointment

New Delhi: Air India’s chairman and managing director Arvind Jadhav is scheduled to meet the Director General of Civil Aviation Nasim Zaidi on Saturday to discuss the controversy over appointment of Pawan Arora as chief operating officer (COO) of Air India Express, the low-cost subsidiary of the national carrier.
A board meeting of Air India has also been convened next week to discuss all issues raised by the independent directors on the Air India board at a meeting with TKA Nair, principal secretary to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh , on Monday.
I will discuss the issues related to appointment of the Air India Express COO and report to the (Air India) board, Mr Jadhav told ET. Pawan Arora is also scheduled to meet the DGCA the same day.
Questions related to appointment of the Air India Express COO was discussed by the board at its last meeting and I have promised to come back to the board with details, Mr Jadhav said. Mr Zaidi was not available for comments. The next meeting of the Air India is scheduled to take place on November 11.
