Chaos at the Kingfisher Airlines counters

Bangalore: Friday morning was witness to chaos at the Kingfisher Airlines counters at Bangalore International Airport. Delay in take-off of two morning flights to Pune and Delhi agitated passengers to such an extent that a melee broke out at the check-in counters.
Flight No. IT 3409 to Pune, scheduled to take off at 6am, finally left Bangalore at 11.40pm. Flight No. IT 214 to Delhi, which was to leave Bangalore at 9.55am, took off at 1.15pm.
The flight to Delhi had VIP passengers. State BJP leaders, who were summoned to Delhi, such as BJP state president Jagdish Shettar, BJP MP PC Mohan, Dhananjay Kumar and others, kept waiting for hours in the Kingfisher lounge. Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty was also taking the flight to Delhi.
According to sources, irate passengers manhandled the Kingfisher ground staff, including the regional manager Jayanthi Prasad. The airline staff was indeed at the receiving end of the fliers' fury. A few passengers told TOI that, according to the staff, a rat in the aircraft delayed the Pune flight! Meanwhile, heavy fog in Delhi is said to have played havoc with the schedule of many air carriers.
