New Delhi: The situation at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport was a whiff better on Monday, with the number of delayed flights decreasing drastically. While Air India operations seem to have “normalised” with the national carrier running only two of its 54 flights behind the schedule by two hours on Monday, troubles with the airline’s staff have not ended.
Even as the crew is made to work back-to-back and the airline has been granted a waiver from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Flight Duty Timing Limitations (FDTL), the airline has called back its retired crew members to join on a contract basis, sources told Newsline. An airline spokesperson said at least 100 additional crew members would join work from Tuesday.
“We recruited 60 crew members on Sunday. We have also requested some of our crew, who have been on voluntary leave for two years without pay, to join back. At least 100 crew members would report to work from Tuesday, and we would be much better placed,” the official said.
Officials, however, said operational issues still exist at Terminal 3.
