Finally, A'bad airport to have Sardar Patel's statue

Ahmedabad: Sardar Patel International Airport in the city will finally get a statue of the Sardar. The AAI has sanctioned around Rs 50 lakh for installing the Sardar's statute at the airport. The statue of the Iron Man of India at the airport was promised by Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on July 4 while inaugurating the new terminal of the international airport.
According to sources in the AAI, the estimated cost of the statue and its installation will be around Rs 52 lakh and the Ahmedabad Airport Authorities has already invited tenders for the work. The statute is likely to be installed by the end of this financial year.
The official said that the statute, which is being made by the AAI somewhere in Delhi, is around 10-12 feet high and would be installed right opposite the entrance of the new International airport.
