India's air traffic up 18.3 percent till Oct

New Delhi: Led by budget carriers Spicejet, Go Air and IndiGo, India's domestic airlines registered an 18.3 per cent growth, carrying 41.93 million passengers in the January-October period this year as against 35.45 million passengers during the like period last year.
Total domestic passengers carried by scheduled airlines increased 18.05 per cent to 4.62 million in October from 3.91 million in the previous month, according to official data released Monday.
Jet Airways along with its subsidiary Jet Lite continued to lead the industry with 26.2 per cent market-share in October.
However, the budget carriers were picking up fast. IndiGo controlled 16.8 per cent market share while Spicejet had 13.6 per cent and Go Air 6.6 per cent in terms of number of passengers carried.
With 0.81 million passengers carried in October, the government-run Air India (domestic) controlled 17.7 per cent market-share. Passenger traffic of Spicejet rose 28.3 per cent to 0.63 million, Go Air 42.3 per cent to 0.30 million and Indigo 43.5 per cent to 0.77 million in October.
