Manic Sunday for Air India passenger

New Delhi: Even though Air India had promised to look into the massive delays in flight operations caused due to the partial shifting of domestic operations last week, Sunday turned out to be another bad day for people using the national carrier. Chaos broke out at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday night as a large number of angry passengers raised slogans against the national carrier.
Air India’s flight to Shanghai, AI 348, was delayed by over 24 hours before it left on Sunday evening. Officials cited the reason for the delay as “operational”. The flight AI 143, which was supposed to fly to Paris, was cancelled due to “technical problems”. The AI 841 flight to Abu Dhabi, scheduled for a 8.15 pm departure, could take off only by 11 pm on Sunday. AI 895 to Dubai was delayed by two hours, while AI 638 to Amritsar was delayed by four hours.
Air India officials said the flights were getting delayed because of a shortage of parking bays at the airport.
