Pay to reach Bangalore airport

Bangalore: If you are travelling towards Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) or Nandi Hills, prepare to shell out money as the free ride is set to get over. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the caretaker of BIA road (NH-7), is constructing a toll gate before the trumpet interchange. This means all the vehicle users travelling towards Devanahalli and BIA have to pay the toll before they reach the airport.
NHAI project director R K Gupta said, “Yes, we have decided to introduce the toll. We have already six-laned the highway. Hence, we want to collect the toll from road users.”
Meanwhile, sources said the construction of the toll gate will be ready in a month’s time. The pending construction of a flyover near Devanahalli will also be completed by then, after which NHAI will go ahead with the toll collection. “We will shortly issue a government notification on the toll rates,” said Gupta.
