3 delayed, 2 diverted flights lead to chaos at Sanganer Airport

Jaipur: On Friday, three flights were delayed and two were diverted to Jaipur in a span of two hours leading to choas at the airport. It all started when a technical snag was detected in the Hyderabad-bound Indigo airlines flight 1516 just seconds before take-off. The Airbus-320 with 160 passengers on board started from the apron on its scheduled time at 6.10 am.
However, the moment it reached the runway for take-off, the pilot detected a snag in the engine and applied brakes. This created panic among passengers in the aircraft. However, they took a sigh of relief when the flight returned to the bay.
The passengers disembarked at the waiting area.
Sources said had it taken a few more seconds for the pilot to detect the snag, it would have resulted in a disaster. Two more Delhi-bound Kingfisher flights were delayed for two hours owing to bad weather conditions in Delhi.
At a time when airport authorities were busy re-scheduling the delayed flights, two Delhi-bound flights were diverted to Jaipur, again due to inclement weather in Delhi.
In two hours, Sanganer airport had five additional flights at bay with over 600 passengers in the waiting area.
