Hyderabad: Three persons were arrested by the immigration officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) after they found them using a tampered passport for travelling from Riyadh.
RGIA police said they arrested Mohammed Tausees and Hassan of Uttar Pradesh and Mohammed Shakeel of Nacharam when they were collecting their luggage.
The accused bought fake Indian passports as either their visas got expired or were under the possession of their employer.
Police said Tausees was supposed to come to India to attend his sister’s marriage but his passport was under the possession of his employer.
“So he approached one Mohammed Yousuf in Riyadh, who gave him an Indian Passport belonging to some other person. The passport was tampered by replacing the photograph of the original owner with that of Tausees. Yousuf also gave him an emergency certificate (EC) which can be used for travelling.
But a person who takes EC will be not allowed to return to Jeddah,’’ RGIA SI Kiran Kumar told Express.
Similarly, Hassan and Mohammed Shakeel also obtained the tampered passports and EC.
