Patna: City's Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport is in for a revamp with plans afoot for its modernization, rebuilding and upgradation to cater to the growing number of flyers.
The modernization and rebuilding will hopefully start next year, a senior AAI official said and added a two-member team of AAI (planning wing) recently visited the city airport and carried out a survey for the purpose. The team is likely to submit its recommendations to the director general of civil aviation, Nasim Zaidi, soon.
"Once the DGCA okays the proposals, the matter will be taken up with the department concerned of the government of Bihar," the AAI official told TOI and hoped the proposals would be cleared by the state government.
The AAI team visited Patna in view of unprecedented growth in air traffic at the city airport during the last 13 months. The airport is likely to be upgraded in a phased manner.
