Air India continues on turnaround path

Mumbai: The turnaround plan initiated by national carrier Air India during the current financial year (2010-2011) is bearing results, with the airline reporting improvement across all parameters.
A statement by the airline indicates that during the six-month period April–November 2010, its network revenue grew by 22.6 per cent to Rs. 7,250 crore as against Rs. 5,911 crore the previous year.
Out of the total network revenue, Rs. 4,401 crore (Rs. 3,801 crore) was recorded on international flights, a growth of 15.8 per cent, while on domestic flights it jumped 35 per cent to Rs. 2,849 crore in April-November 2010 (Rs. 2,110 crore).
The number of passengers carried improved by 13.3 per cent during the period from 7.99 million to 9.05 million.
On its international network, passenger traffic improved by 3.5 per cent to 3.74 million passengers (3.61 million passengers) while on its domestic network, it grew 21.4 per cent to 5.32 million (4.38 million).
Further, the airline registered an overall passenger load factor (PLF) of 66.3 per cent (63.1 per cent).
While on its international network, the PLF increased to 65 per cent (62.2 per cent), on its domestic network, it went to 70.4 per cent (66.2 per cent).
