Jet, Kingfisher fare charts still confuse fliers

New Delhi: Private carriers continue to flout all norms as they lack transparency in displaying their tariffs, clearly airing their discontent over the government forcing them to do so.
Among the major violators is leading private carrier Jet Airways where one can hardly find any details about the fare chart. The section on fare information on its homepage is routed to a page which has details on fares charged earlier for its various domestic routes by its full service Jet Konnect and low-cost JetLite services.
Even the airline's customer care was not helpful and could not help locate any details of the tariffs posted on its Website.
When asked, the spokeswoman of the airline on Sunday said that web managers will be able to help in this regard.
When asked why it is so difficult to get the tariff sheet posted on the Website, she said they have not received any complaints from any of their customers so far.
Another leading carrier, Kingfisher Airlines too, continues to use jargon where its tariff sheet posted on its Website has mentioned fare levels between levels 1 and 12. The levels has not been explained anywhere in the Website. The airline has largely tinkered with lucrative sectors, especially Delhi- Mumbai, which is not in chronology, testing the patience of viewers.
Kingfisher Airlines had early this week admitted that its airfare chart was unreadable. It had also said it would put it in a readable form, which is yet to be worked out.
On December 6, airlines were asked by the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to put-up "customer-friendly information on airfares" on the first day of every month to help travellers know the airfares for every month. The DGCA issued a fresh directive asking airlines to publish their fares in a transparent manner.
