Advanced cams to keep airport safer

Nagpur: Saboteurs eyeing the city airport may now think twice. Recently, Mihan India Private Limited (MIPL) that operates city airport, has installed 54 IP closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras covering the entire premises including arrival and departure gates often used as a getaway by criminals.
Airport security officials feel that now instances of people gaining entry with forged e-tickets, passengers stealing others' belongings, and touts operating outside the airport premises would be less. "The cameras can help easily identify owners of abandoned bags that otherwise often result in local bomb detection squad being called," they said. A senior MIPL official informed, "for the first time, a non-metro airport like Nagpur has got IP cameras with 10 mega-pixel resolution. Installed by Adtech Systems Limited (ASL), these cameras are very advanced compared to traditional analog cameras as they record 30 times more details. As a result, larger image areas with up to 360° panorama are possible."
