Air India asked to pay `10,000

Tiruchy: The District Consumer Redressal Forum has directed Air India to give a compensation of `10,000 to K.N. Prathyusha, a passenger, for not informing her about the cancellation of a flight.
Prathyusha, who was studying in the United States, was to travel by Air India Express flight (IC 967/IC911) to Thiruvananthapuram and from there to Bengaluru from Tiruchy on January 22, 2010.
She had booked tickets in September 2009 through a online travel portalyatra.com
However, Air India, which had suspended its flight operations between Tiruchy and Thiruvananthapuram in October 2009 did not inform her of it. No communication in this regard was sent by the airliner to the traveller. Prathyusha, who had to return to the US after a brief sojourn in her native place, came to know about the suspended flight services only in the last minute and that too through a neighbour.
