Board nod for removal of AI Express COO Arora

Mumbai: The Air India board on Wednesday approved the termination of Air India Express Chief Operating Officer Capt Pawan Arora. Arora, however, continues to hold the post and the board has referred the matter to the airline's legal department for its opinion.
"The board confirmed and approved the last meeting's minutes which said that Arora should be dispensed with immediate effect," said an airline source. But the matter is still pending as the board has sought legal opinion on how to execute the decision, the source added.
The airline's spokesperson was not available for comment. The decision to sack Arora was taken in the November board meeting and the former civil aviation minister had also made an announcement to the effect in the Parliament. However, Arora continues to attend office, hold meetings and take decisions as the airline works out the legal ramifications of the issue.
Arora's appointment had turned controversial in September following reports that he did not fulfill the minimum requirements.
