Chandigarh airport gets ILS, finally

Chandigarh: Air Force authorities as well as Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials on Tuesday claimed that a newly fabricated ILS has been set up at the airport, which would enable pilots aboard commercial domestic flights to be able to land the flight even in extremely poor visibility conditions.
Chandigarh airport director HS Toor said that air calibration of the ILS would take another two days and with the weather clearing up, it was only a matter of a couple of days that all flights would be able to resume functioning normally.
With two Kingfisher flights and one Go Air Airlines flight taking off from the airport, there was some sort of respite for passengers, who had to shelve their travel plans for almost a week as all the flight carriers had suspended operations from the airport due to extremely poor visibility and absence of an instrument landing system (ILS).
