Chinese aircraft won’t grace Bangalore skies

Bangalore: Business-to-Business meetings, product launches and focused presentations by the exhibitors will be some of the highlights of Aero India 2011, the eighth edition of Asia’s biggest air show, organised by the ministry of defence at Yelahanka Air Force Station from February 9 to 13.
More than 600 exhibitors are billed to participate in the biennial show.
In the seventh edition, 592 companies, both Indian and foreign, participated. In all, 25 countries were represented. Incidentally, China which had participated in the last show is not making its presence felt this time, confirmed Sujata. This is attributed to the growing trade rivalry between India and China.
The show will witness a zealous scramble by the global defence aviation giants for a part of the big pie. Among them are Lockheed Martin, Boeing, BAE Systems, and the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS). The flying displays will see some of the latest fighter planes in the world, sources said. Some of the latest technological marvels in communication, electronic warfare, cockpit display and aircraft manufacturing are expected to be on display.
