After 3 more cases of forged papers, Vayalar orders review

New Delhi: Civil aviation minister Vayalar Ravi said on Tuesday that three more cases of forged marksheet for obtaining Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) have been discovered.
In a suo motu statement in the Rajya Sabha, Ravi said he has asked the DGCA to examine all the pilot licences issued in the past and to establish a procedure for more detailed verification while issuing such licences.
He said an expert committee has also been set up in the ministry to examine the current examination system, need for introduction of e-technology, procedures and processes, and evolve an effective system of cross-verification of papers filed by candidates.
In the three new cases, Ravi said, FIRs had been lodged against Swaran Singh Talwar of MDLR Airlines, Meenakshi Singhal of IndiGo, and JK Verma of Air India.
Recounting the case of Parminder Kaur Gulati of IndiGo whose licence was suspended after an incident of aircraft landing on its nose-wheel in Goa, Ravi said during the inquiry it came to light that there had other instances of deficient landing by her.
