Mumbai: State-owned carrier Air India announced on Tuesday that it has completed the first milestone of its modernisation process with the migration of Air India and Indian Airlines to SITA's Horizon Passenger Service System (PSS). Switzerland-based SITA , a business solution provider and specialist in air transport communications and IT solutions, was awarded the contract to develop the platform for Air India in April last year.
Air India migrated to the system a month back and now the system is fully operational. The system, which will manage customer functions such as reservations, managing inventory , has a response time of minimal 1.5 seconds . The $192-million contract will allow passengers the access to a dynamic pricing system which Air India could not offer till now because of the absence of a pricing control engine.
