All-women crew man 13 Air India flights

New Delhi: An all-women crew will operate a 15-hour non-stop flight from Delhi to Toronto on Tuesday, International Women’s Day.

The 11-member crew will operate flight AI-187, and women engineers will carry out the safety audit before the Boeing 777-300 aircraft is flagged off from Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport by Civil Aviation Secretary Nasim Zaidi late on Monday night.

“Air India, for the second consecutive year, will operate an ultra long-haul flight from Delhi to Toronto to mark of International Women’s Day. Last year, for the first time in the aviation history, Air India had operated a flight from Mumbai to New York with all-women crew on the same occasion,” an Air India spokesperson said.

Captain Rashmi Miranda will be the commander of the flight and Captain Sunita Narula, the First Officer. Harpreet A Singh would be chief of Quality Management Systems to carry out a line observation safety audit.
The airline will also operate flights on several domestic sectors with all-women crew on Tuesday, he said. These include flights on sectors such as Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Raipur-Nagpur, Delhi-Lucknow, Mumbai-Bangalore, Chennai-Mumbai and Bangalore-Delhi.
