City’s ATC chief on roll of honour

Ahmedabad: Joint General Manager of Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the city’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport Aryama Sanyal will be felicitated by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation for her contribution to civil aviation in India. Sanyal is one of the handful woman ATC officers in the country and is the only one at Ahmedabad airport.
As part of year-long events to celebrate 100 years of civil aviation in the copuntry, the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has decided to felicitate woman aviators and other aviation personnel who have contributed significantly to the field, on International Women’s Day, March 8, at a function in New Delhi.
“It was a moment of pride for me when I heard this news. I am honoured that the ministry has recognised my efforts,” Sanyal told Ahmedabad Mirror.
“Failure is not the option for an ATC officer. The gravity of our job gives us the energy to give our best every time. I am giving my best for 21 years and will keep trying to do the same.”

Sanyal, who is a postgraduate in physics with specialisation in microwave electronics, is in charge of air traffic services (ATS) at Ahmedabad Airport. She is entrusted with the job of bringing world class communication navigation surveillance and air traffic management (CNS-ATM) applications to the city airport.
