Chennai: The First Bench of the Madras HC on Wednesday admitted a public interest writ plea levelling charges against the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in awarding conract for ground handling services at the airports in Chennai and Kolkatta.
“We are prima facie of the view that the matter appears to be serious in nature and should be adjudicated by this court. Hence, the writ petition is admitted.....,’’ the bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivgnanam said. Oveyam Ranjan, president of Namadhu Dravida Iyakkam in West Shenoy Nagar, sought to quash proceedings dated September 9, 2009 of the AAI, which awarded licence for providing ground handling services at two airports to Bhadra International (India) Limited, New Delhi.
