Safe home from Libya, they lost camera, laptop at IGI

New Delhi: Thomaskutty PV's relief at returning to India from Libya was rather short-lived. When he and his wife went to retrieve their check-in baggage after landing in Delhi's IGI Airport on Friday morning, they found that the lock of one was broken, while a digital camera and laptop were missing from another.
"We had checked-in three pieces of baggage, but the lock of one of them was broken. I immediately informed officials from Kerala House who were at the airport to welcome us, but they said we will have to lodge a complaint with the airport officials. We went to them, too, but were told to contact Air India," said Kutty.
Their flight from Tripoli had landed in Delhi at 1.30am and it was only around 3am when an airline official met the couple. "She told me to go to terminal 3 where the airline counters are located. I could not have left my pregnant wife, and the official finally agreed to get the official stamp herself. We waited till 8am and then finally called the police," said Kutty.
Meanwhile, the couple made one last check at the baggage belt to ensure that they were not leaving anything behind and happened to spot the laptop bag and a piece of cloth in which they had wrapped the laptop, lying in one corner. "We showed this to the authorities as well. After finishing all formalities, we left the airport around 10.30am after spending about nine hours there only trying to lodge a complaint," he added.
