This time, cricket fever to catch airport too

Nagpur: When India take on South Africa in the high profile World Cup cricket tie at Vidarbha Cricket Association ( VCA) stadium at Jamtha on Saturday, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport will once again witness a busy day as several chartered flights would be winging their way in ferrying hundreds of cricket fans.

Nagpur Airport will play host to 15 to 20 aircraft including at least three non-scheduled one-a Kingfisher ATR aircraft, special Jet Air Boeing-737, and another GoAir flight- besides the 13 scheduled flights that land and take off from here every day.

On Saturday, the number of chartered flights would be less than on December 3 when 41 non-scheduled flights landed here for reception of BJP leader Nitin Gadkari son's wedding and the airport handled 54 flights in all. However, the airport will once again get a chance to prove itself ready for a busier schedule, more connecting flight operations, and better services for passengers, sources at airport said.
