Woman pilot who forged marksheets granted bail

New Delhi: A Delhi court has granted bail to a woman pilot who was arrested by the Delhi Police’s crime branch for forging her pilot’s licence. Granting bail to Parminder Kaur Gulati, additional chief metropolitan magistrate Rakesh Pandit said, “The nature of the offence is such that the accused could not repeat the same even in case if she desires…”
According to the police, Gulati, a pilot with Indigo airlines, was arrested for forging her marksheets. She was suspended by the airline following the hard landing of a flight piloted by her on January 11 in Goa.
The forgery case against Gulati was lodged by DC Sharma, director, training and licensing, DGCA. The aviation regulatory body had found that she had allegedly submitted a forged result card of her pilot licence examination in January 2009, for obtaining an airlines transport pilot licence (ATPL). The ATPL enables co-pilots to become commanders.
Vijay Aggarwal, counsel for Gulati, contended that the police have already confiscated all the digitised documents, including the computer records of the marksheets.
