MDLR Airlines pilot arrested for procuring fake licence

New Delhi: A pilot of now defunct MDLR Airlines was arrested here for allegedly procuring pilot licence using forged marksheets taking the total number of people arrested in such cases to 15.Swarn Singh Talwar, a resident of Gurgaon, was apprehended yesterday following a complaint filed by airline regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ashok Chand, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.Talwar had allegedly procured Air Transport Pilot Licence using forged marksheets with the help of one Pradeep Tyagi, also a pilot who was earlier arrested.With the arrest of Talwar, police have arrested a total of seven pilots for procuring commercial pilot licence or Air Transport Pilot Licence by allegedly submitting fake marksheets.A total of 15 people, including three DGCA officials, have been arrested in Delhi and Jaipur since March seven after the fake pilot scam was unearthed by the DGCA."Talwar met Tyagi at Delhi Flying Club. Tyagi assured him that on payment of Rs 50,000 he would obtain for him an ATPL licence. Tyagi got prepared a forged result card from Lalit Jain and Pankaj Jain, who were also arrested earlier."Then he submitted the same to DGCA along with other relevant documents. In the forged result card of April 2010 session, Talwar was shown as having cleared the papers Air Navigation Composite and Air Regulation but he failed to clear Air Navigation Composite paper. On the basis of forged result card, he got his licence in July last year," Chand said.
