Sacking of pilots the right decision: Vyalar

New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Vyalar Ravi on Wednesday welcomed the decision of Delhi High Court to stay the strike by Air India pilots. Ravi slammed the strike calling it the "most irresponsible" decision of the pilots association. "It is not expected from a recognised association," he said.
"Sacking of six pilots by management is a right decision. Nobody can dictate terms to the government," the minister also added.
He said, "This strike will not last for long. We will be able to restore normalcy soon. Government is trying best to improve the situation due to pilot strike. We have enough pilots."
He also pointed out that Air India has been incurring losses and the airline needs to be financially revamped.
"Everyone is cooperating expect these pilots," he added.
Air India pilots went on a strike after talks with the management and the Chief Labour Commissioner over pay parity between the pilots with the erstwhile Indian Airlines and Air India pilots failed.
Air India management had earlier in the day hit back at the striking pilots and terminated the services of six members of the Indian Commercial Pilot Association (ICPA).
