Imphal: CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) personnel Friday seized five live rounds of .32 ammunition from the hand baggage of Yumnam Neta Singh, Joint Secretary (Rural Development & Panchayati Raj) .
The CISF personnel at Imphal Airport seized the item when conducting a check at the X-ray checking point around 1.30 pm today.
The Joint Secretary was, however, allowed to travel to Kolkata by air but the seized ammunition have been handed over to the Singjamei police, an official source said.
Meanwhile, two persons, suspected to be underground activists, were picked up by a police team from Imphal airport where they were about to take a flight to Kolkata around 2 pm.
Waikhom Herojit (25) son of W Deba of Kongpal Khaidem Leikai and Aheibam Surendro Singh (31) son of A Ibochouba Singh of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai were supposed to travel to Kolkata by a Jetlite flight from Imphal.
