Mangalore seeks fund for airport

The Mangalore Airport Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee will shortly meet Union minister for civil aviation, Vayalar Ravi, and Airports Authorities of India (AAI) chairman V.P. Agarwal, asking for Rs 20 crore for runway extension.
They will also ask to name the airport after Ullal Srinivas Mallya.
The Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee, which has been holding various programmes on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of Mangalore Airport, wants the airport to get ‘International Airport’ tag, and also to name it after Ullal Srinivas Mallya, when the celebration would conclude on December 21, 2011.
