73 pct Kolkata Airport modernisation complete: Officials

Kolkata: Nearly 73 percent of the work of the upcoming airport terminal of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport has been completed and the new terminal is scheduled to be completed by March, 2012, the Airport Director said on Friday.
Airport Director B. P. Sharma informed about this during the Airport Advisory Committee meeting that was held at Kolkata Airport under the Chairmanship of Saugata Roy, Minister of State for Urban Development, Government of India, on Friday.
Sharma also highlighted the difficulties faced by the Airport such as congestion on VIP Road, pre-paid taxi management by the state police, removal of garbage dumped in and around the airport, removal of obstructions from approach and take off path for safe aircraft operations, drainage issues related with airport, Metro Rail connectivity with Airport.
