Ahmedabad: To improve the handling of medical emergencies, Sardar Vallabhbhai International Patel airport will soon get two new hi-tech ambulances. The vehicles, complete with modern medical facilities will be provided by Airports Authority Of India (AAI).
Sources in the Ahmedabad airport said AAI recently ordered around 40 new ambulances for different airports in the country out of which two will be given to Ahmedabad.
The new technologically advanced ambulances, said airport officials, will help providing emergency medical treatment the crucial first few minutes.
"We recently received correspondence from AAI about the new ambulances. We currently have four ambulances at Ahmedabad airport which have stretchers and oxygen cylinders. The new advanced ones will help in dealing with emergency situations," said a senior Ahmedabad airport official.
Sources in AAI said that they currently have more than 131 ambulances at around 64 airports across the country and the new ambulances are being bought to deal with the increasing domestic air traffic and medical emergencies at all major airports.
