AI pilot grounded after his warning on flight safety

New Delhi: Air India has grounded a senior office bearer of erstwhile Indian Airlines pilots' union who had recently pointed out to the government that having pilots unpaid for months on end could affect flight safety.
Indian Commercial Pilots' Association (ICPA) general secretary Rishabh Kapoor had a fortnight back written to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, saying a person under such pressure a person is liable to make mistakes and that the top management should be held responsible for any incident or accident.
"The DGCA forwarded his letter to the aviation ministry which in turn sent it to the airline. Seeing his state of mind, we decided to off-roster him (keep him off flying duty)," said AI sources.
