10 associations and unions of Air India (AI) and erstwhile Indian Airlines (IA) have written to the civil aviation minister Vayalar Ravi, asking him for an appointment within a week to sort out their issues.
The unions have also said that the employees will be forced to go on a nationwide protest, including strike if issues pertaining to non-payment of salary and turnaround plan for Air India are not resolved.
For the first time 33,000 employees of both the merged airlines — AI and IA have come together and want a dialogue from the minister. Labour unrest continues to prevail in ailing AI as employees claim non-payment of salaries for the month of May.
