Delhi Terminal 1D to be segregated

New Delhi: The domestic departure terminal 1D of the Delhi airport is in for a major makeover in the next couple of months, as it gears up to handle international flights. Terminal 1D is going to become a domestic-cum-international terminal for budget carriers and private airport operator Delhi International
Airport Ltd (DIAL) is toying with different plans on how to revamp T1D for international operations.
"The initial plan is to segregate T1D like Terminal 3 for domestic and international flights," said a senior airport official who didn’t wish to be identified.
"While the domestic side will continue functioning as it is, customs and immigration counters will have to be installed at the international section," he added.
Plans to convert T1D into an integrated terminal for budget carriers come in the wake of IndiGo airlines planning to start international flights later this year.
"Apart from IndiGo, there are some other international budget carriers from south-east Asia that are interested in starting operations from T1D," he said.
