Faridabad air crash: Kin yet to get compensation

New Delhi: While the ministry of civil aviation has initiated top level probe into the Faridabad air crash, the families of the victims who died in the tragedy are yet to get any information about the compensation they were promised. On May 25, 2011, a single engine, turbo prop aircraft carrying Rahul Raj (20)
, a critically ill patient from Patna who was to be treated at Apollo Hospital in Delhi, crashed at Parvatiya Colony in Faridabad. The aircraft crashed at 10.48pm, killing the patient, his cousin Ratnesh Kumar, pilot Harpreet Singh, co-pilot Manjeet Kotani, two doctors Dr Sayed Arshad Abbas and Dr Rajesh Jain and a nurse Cyril P Joy.
“It has been more than a fortnight since the crash but we are yet to hear anything about the compensation that we were promised,” said Ramashankar Prasad (50), Rahul’s uncle. “We have tried to enquire about compensation from the Apollo Hospital and the chartered service providers but no one has been able to provide any information,” he said. “Both Rahul and Ratnesh were the only child of their parents and both the families are devastated by the tragic incident and still in a state of shock. I’m shuttling between Patna and Delhi regularly to keep track of both the probe and the compensation,” he added.
Prasad said that he has already met members of the probe committee and officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the ministry of civil aviation.
