Flight aborted after Estonian falls sick

Ahmedabad: A SpiceJet Goa-Delhi flight made a priority landing at a city airport late on Friday after a 42-year-old passenger fainted mid-air. Estonian citizen Terje Uusen was rushed to Apollo Hospital from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport where doctors declared her brought dead. Doctors said she died of cardiac arrest.
According to Ahmedabad airport director Anuj Aggarwal, "Flight SG 258 landed at Ahmedabad at 10.33 pm and Uusen was shifted to Apollo Hospital in an Airport Authority of India (AAI) ambulance." He said that SpiceJet officials accompanied the passenger to the hospital.
"Uusen collapsed in her seat and sensing the emergency the flight was diverted to Ahmedabad. We had a doctor on board, a passenger, who also advised us to make a priority landing," said a SpiceJet official.
