Chennai: Flying out of Chennai airport early in the morning has become a pain because of long queues and slow security check, complain passengers.
With just half-a-dozen security counters and some 30 domestic flights taking off between 5.30am and 7.30am, there are about 3,000 passengers who have to wait in queue for long, sometimes at the risk of missing their flights.
Passengers of four or five flights have to stand in the same queue for security check. This becomes unwieldy as airlines expect passengers to be at the boarding gates 25 minutes before the departure time. According to the new norms, flights cannot wait for passengers who don't report on time as they would have to go back in queue for take-off.
