New Delhi: Transit passengers or those whose flights are delayed will no longer have to wait long hours at the IGI Airport's stuffy waiting rooms. A unique airport transit hotel within the IGI complex, wherein travelers will be able to book rooms on hourly basis, is opening next month. Senior officials said that this would be the first of its kind airport transit hotel in the country.
The place, Eaton Smart New Delhi Airport Transit Hotel, will be officially launched by end-June or early-July, and has two wings - one for international and the other for domestic passengers. Senior officials said the 93-room hotel will offer travellers everything they need to continue their journey in comfort and style.
"There are 57 rooms in the international wing and 36 rooms in the domestic wing. The international wing is reserved for transit passengers or those who have cleared the customs and do not have an Indian visa. The rooms will be given on hourly basis for a minimum of four to five hours,'' said a source. The rates for rooms and other facilities at the transit have not been disclosed yet, but room rates are likely to be in the range of Rs 3,000- to 7,000 with hourly rates starting at Rs 500.
