Patna: At least 125 flyers aboard the Go Air's Delhi-Patna flight experienced the scariest moment of their life as the pilot aborted landing and went full throttle to ascend from a height of 500ft following a command from the air traffic control at the Patna's Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport on Friday morning. The reason? The aircraft was positioned on a flawed approach path and it would have overshot the runway and crashed had it thus landed, sources said.
The Airbus-320 ascended to an altitude of 4,000ft, repositioned itself and landed safely around 9am, 30 minutes behind schedule. The G8-341 flight had taken off from Delhi at 7.05am.
"We could see the city's skyline when suddenly the plane started ascending at a full throttle, causing severe turbulence and jerks to everyone in the cabin. Even the toilet doors were thrown open," one of the passengers, visibly furious, told TOI while coming out of the airport.
