AI Mishap: CM should intervene to help kin of victims

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Association of Travel Agents today urged Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to intervene to get adequate compensation for the next of kin of victims of Air India plane crash at Mangalore last year.
In a statement here,Association President K V Muraleedharan and General Secretary Channankara M P Kunju said it was unfortunate Air India had not come forward to award a decent compensation to the families even one year after the accident.
"It is unfortunate that families of even Keralite victims in the tragedy have not yet received compensation though the Civil Aviation Minister and Aviation Director are Keralites," he said in the statement.
The Association welcomed the High Court verdict, which said the families are entitled to Rs 75 lakh as compensation.
