New Delhi: The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has formed a three-member committee to assess the possible security threat posed to the main runway by IGI'shospitality area at the Aerocity.
Quoting a Times of India report that appeared on Friday, in which Delhi Police has raised concerns about the lack of any threat assessment of the hospitality area, BCAS has given deputy commissioner of police IGI Airport RA Sanjeev, deputy commissioner BCAS SK Bhatnagar and deputy inspector general of CISF KN Tripathi a week to carry out a joint inspection and submit a report for further action.
"When the matter was first raised, nobody responded to it. The hospitality sector is barely 200m away from the main runway and the airport management has not bothered to ensure that a safety audit was carried out. Now BCAS is involved in the matter and has set up an enquiry committee to assess the risk factor," said sources.
