New Delhi The Aerocity project, the hospitality zone being constructed near the Indira Gandhi International Airport, will be reviewed by officials of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to check for its threat perception.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) had formed a panel to study the issue after the Delhi Police complained that high rises in the vicinity of the airport could pose a safety threat. It had written a letter to the internal security wing of the Ministry of Home Affairs, seeking its intervention in the matter.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the private airport developer responsible for constructing the hospitality sector — comprising 11 five-star hotels and a shopping mall — barely 115 metres from the 28/10 runway of the IGI Airport, claimed they had acquired all the mandatory clearances.
