S Venkat selected Air India's Director

New Delhi: S Venkat, an Executive Director in Air India, has been selected by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) for being upgraded to the post of Director (Finance) in the airline's Board.
The ailing national carrier's management is undergoing a thorough overhaul, with the government recently appointing Rohit Nandan, Joint Secretary in the Civil Aviation Ministry, as the new CMD replacing Arvind Jadhav.
After the sacking of Jadhav and Nandan's appointment on August 12, Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi had said three functional Directors -- Finance, Personnel and Commercial -- would be appointed soon.
Venkat, who was earlier the airline's company secretary, was selected from a panel of three officers by the PESB today, official sources said, adding that the two others were from HCL and Tourism Finance Corporation of India.
