Bangalore to celebrate centenary of aviation industry

Aerospace city Bangalore will celebrate the centenary of civil aviation in India, said Dr C.G. Krishnadas Nair, former Chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and President, Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries.
SIATI hosts a multi-themed seminar in the city on Monday to highlight the growth of the industry and the direction it is headed in.
“Bangalore being the aerospace capital of India, it was considered to have a mega event to celebrate regionally the centenary of civil aviation in Bangalore by the aerospace industries and organisations,” Dr Nair told a curtain-raiser news conference on Friday. Dr Nair is also part of the organising committee for the regional commemoration.
To address the human resource issue in the industry, a new Indian Institute of Aerospace Engineering and Management would be formally inaugurated this month.
The academy, one of the first dedicated institutes in the field, was affiliated to Jain University.
Dr Nair said Bangalore had a special place in the country's aerospace growth.
