Post intelligence alert, charter flights come under intense security

Bangalore: Taking a chartered flight will no longer be a cakewalk. Intense security screening on private chartered aircraft and their pilots has been initiated with Intelligence Bureau issuing a red alert that a charter plane from Hubli airport would be used to carry out 9/11-like airborne attack on Mumbai.
Hubli-based VRL Logistics Limited which operates air charter flights catering to VIP's and corporate sector said special security arrangements have been put in place following the alert to ensure that their Hawker Beechcraft Premier Jet 1A aircraft is safe and secure.
"Though our aircraft is currently being serviced we have made special arrangements to ensure that it is not left unattended," Capt Satish Chandra Mehta, chief pilot, VRL told DNA. He said intelligence sleuths on Sunday made enquiries on the crew, the aircraft and their flight schedules.
Capt Arvind Sharma, CEO, Agni Aviation that operates from Jakkur Airfield, said screening of both the aircrew and passengers travelling on private charter flights is being done.
